Grand Blanc High School Honors former High School Soccer Coach Doug Burroughs 

• Long time Boys and Girls Soccer Coach Doug Burroughs in being inducted in the GBHS Bobcat Sports Hall of Fame.
• Homecoming Weekend 2010 – October 1^st and 2^nd.
• This is a chance for the Boys and Girls Soccer players to celebrate with Coach Burroughs and to have a Soccer Reunion with each other.
• Friday, October 1^st – Coach Burroughs will be inducted in the Sports Hall of Fame at halftime of the Homecoming football game.  Please join us to see this presentation.  Tickets for the game can be purchased at the game for $5. 
• Saturday, October 2^nd – Coach Burroughs will join the GBHS Soccer Alumni at the Alumni Banquet for an evening of great memories and stories – not all told by the coach – somewhat of a “Roast” you could say.  This will be a great chance for you to talk will your former teammates from soccer that you might not see at a typical class reunion, as well as see Coach Burroughs.  You are welcome to bring spouses, families, and friends to this event.
• Reservations for the Saturday Alumni Banquet can be made from August 15^th until September 15^th by calling 810-591-6021.  The cost is $30 per person.  The Alumni Banquet will be held at the Elks Club at the corner of Maple Road and Vassar Road.  Social hour is at 6pm, Dinner will be served at 7pm, and our program will begin at 8pm.

9/1/10  Grand Blanc Varsity defeates Saginaw Heritage 4-1

 

In a wet and rainy affair, the Bobcats traveled to Saginaw Heritage and came away with a 4-1 non-conference win.  Eddie Nassar scored the first goal for Grand Blanc to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead at half.  In the second half, goals from Chris Hardison, Yamann Sahlool (PK) and Tyler Janeway rounded out the scoring for Grand Blanc.

8/30/10 Grand Blanc Varsity ties Midland 1-1

In a non-league game against the Midland Chemics, the Grand Blanc Varsity saw their record stay unblemished when they tied Midland 1-1.  Bryce DeLamielluere had the Bobcats lone goal when he headed in a Chris Sullivant corner kick.  Tyler Yachcik picked up the tie in goal.

8/30/10 Grand Blanc JV Defeats Midland HS 2-1.

The JV has posted another win. The mid field did a great job moving the ball to the forwards. The offense was very aggressive with shots on goal by Kahlid Foflonker, Brennan Smith, and Mohammad Ali Tahboub. Brent DeHaan scored both goals for Grand Blanc with an assist from Jacob Waier. Both goal keepers, along with the entire Grand Blanc defense, did a great job, allowing only one goal by Midland.

8/30/10 Grand Blanc Freshman team loses to Walled Lake Northern  1-2.

The freshmen team showed incredible improvement in just one game taking the lead 1-0 in the first half. Unfortunately the second half went to Walled Lake. Goal keeper Ammar Hasnie had 10 great saves and the freshman defense prevented several shots on goal. Although the offense tried, with Joseph Tenerelli and Michael Rygiel each having a shot on goal, Brian Steele scored the only goal assisted by Mitchell Walker.

8/28/10 Grand Blanc Varsity ties Traverse City West 1-1

 On Saturday, the Grand Blanc Varsity team traveled to Traverse City to meet the Titans of TC West.  After a hard-fought contest, Bobcats came away with a 1-1 tie.  Junior Luke Neunfeldt scored Grand Blanc's only goal after he put away a rebound of a Zach Carroll header.  The goal was Nuefeldt's first as a varsity player.  Tyler Yachcik recorded his first tie of the season in goal for Grand Blanc.

8/28//10 Grand Blanc JV Defeats Traverse City West 2-1.

The JV team bounces back from their loss to beat Traverse City West. Although the game started with Traverse City scoring first, Mohammad Ali Tahboub tied the game with a goal assisted by Brent DeHaan. Keeper Lewis Jones and the Grand Blanc defense stopped all additional attempts by Traverse City in the first half. Mohammad Ali Tahboub then scores the game winning goal in the second half with an assist by Khalid Foflonker with keeper Joe Taranto, and the incredible defense allowing no goals by Traverse City.

8/26/10 Grand Blanc JV Loses to Troy Athens 0-3.

The Grand Blanc JV team had a rough time controlling the ball and stopping Rochester Adams. Keeper Joe Taranto was shot on 14 times and was unable to stop three of the shots, while the Grand Blanc offense was not able to get through the defense of Troy Athens and complete a goal.

8/23/10 Grand Blanc Varsity beats Rochester Adams 2-1

 What a way to start the new season!  The first game of the year saw the Bobcats score with 8 seconds to go in the contest, to beat Rochester Adams -- last year's state semi-finalists, 2-1.

 Adams took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but in the second half, behind a couple of acrobatic saves by senior Tyler Yachcik and two goals by sophomore, Yaman Sahlool, Grand Blanc earned the victory.  Sahlool's last goal came with 8 seconds left in the game only when another sophomore, Chris Sullivant, fought to keep a ball inboards and served it into the Adams box which Sahlool converted for the winning goal as time wound down.

 Tyler Yachcik recorded his first Varsity win in the contest.

8/23/10 Grand Blanc JV Won 3-1 against Rochester Adams.

The JV team had a slow start allowing Rochester Adams 6 shots on goal with keeper Lewis Jones saving all but 1, putting the JV down by one. The second half Grand Blanc came out to take back the game. Keeper Lewis Jones stopped all 6 shots on Goal while the defense worked to prevent more. Mohammad Ali Tahboub scored 2 goals and had an assist to Brennan Smith for 1 goal. Additional attempts were made by Brent DeHaan, Jacob Waier, and Laith Hasan.

8/23/10  Grand Blanc Freshman team loses to Brighton 4-0.

The freshman team played a good game against Brighton considering it was their first game as a team. They made some good plays and the goalie, Ammar Hasnie, and the freshman defense, made some good saves. There were 2 shots on goal by Teddy Foote and 1 by Joey Bappert.
